Losartan (Cozaar) will be promoted to prevent stroke.
The FDA just approved this new indication for patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH).
LVH is a risk factor for stroke. Hypertensive patients with LVH have about twice the risk of stroke as those without it.
